About Robert Bowker
A composer throughout his 35 year career as a professional singer and 23 years as the founder and conductor of The Lakeside Singers, Robert Bowker’s compositions are almost entirely for singers. In addition to his extensive work as a professional soloist, chorister, and conductor of classical music, his many years in recording studios involved working in a wide range of musical styles, including pop and vocal jazz. He has been commissioned to compose and arrange for solo classical artists, choral ensembles, and children’s choirs, and has produced recordings for many artists.
His choral compositions have been published by Boosey & Hawkes, Roger Dean, and Mark Foster. One of his classical art songs is included in the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Sixth edition, Repertoire 10. Along with Dr. Ronald Combs, he is co-author of Learning to Sing Non-Classical Music, published by Prentice Hall.
Mr. Bowker holds a Mus.Ed degree and M.Mus in applied voice from Northwestern University.
