TEXT: Poem by Susan H. Bowker
It came without warning.
I look up from the sidewalk’s monotony
And feel the sun’s tentative Spring heat.
I breathe deeply,
Fight the urge to sing.
“What is this?” I say.
I search my mind’s calendar for reasons,
Events that would explain the feeling,
That would give words to the song.
It’s just another day, though,
Nothing special.
The sun is out.
I am giddy with life.
And that’s enough
