Text: Poem by Susan H. Bowker
The music in my dreams
has spaces between the notes.
Clear simplicity.
It worries me.
Anxiety of shortened practice sessions haunt me.
I need more time.
I wake to Beethoven
shout Stravinsky
conduct symphonies and choirs
reveling in the complexity
while still avoiding the child’s melodies
of Mozart
waiting on my dream piano.
PERFORMANCE SUGGESTIONS: Especially effective to audiences filled with musicians. Works well as an encore or with other dream-themed songs.
