Snow White Within
Text by Susan H. Bowker
The wicked queen and Snow White
Battle within me
One so full of hate and envy
One so young and beautiful.
Worry, says my queen
If you are not the best.
Abandon your innocence to distant forests,
Look to outward reflections
To ease inner doubts.
Disguise yourself
And offer the first bite
To your trusting child.
Innocent beauty that can’t be killed
Lies sleeping.
Inside crystal glass walls,
Like a treasure,
Waiting to be seen.
She is protected by
Nature’s goodness,
Kept in trust of rescue.
My queen must someday die
And Snow White be reborn.
I must trust my eyes to find her
Like royalty who know treasure when they see it.
She is sleeping patiently,
And when I find her
She will smile up at me
Ready to live
In love.
